BIM Coordinator – Electrical Construction

Pay: $28–$43/hour + opportunity for overtime
Employment Type: Full-Time
Department: Virtual Design & Construction (VDC)


Position Overview

We are seeking a BIM Coordinator to support electrical construction projects through detailed 3D modeling, layout, and coordination. This role works closely with VDC leadership, field teams, project managers, and design partners to translate contract documents and design intent into accurate, coordinated electrical models and installation drawings.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone experienced with AutoCAD, Revit, or Navisworks, and electrical coordination who enjoys collaborating across teams to ensure constructability and project success.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review contract documents, drawings, submittals, and specifications to understand project scope.

  • Develop and maintain electrical BIM models based on project design and construction requirements.

  • Collaborate with VDC staff, project managers, and field personnel on electrical layout and coordination.

  • Participate in MEP coordination meetings and resolve clashes with designers and trade partners.

  • Produce coordinated installation drawings and integrate product-specific data into models.

  • Support constructability reviews and ensure models align with field installation needs.

  • Assist with layout workflows and project coordination as needed.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience working for an electrical contractor or construction firm in BIM/VDC or coordination roles.

  • Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and clash detection workflows.

  • Knowledge of electrical construction methods, materials, and sequencing.

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specs, and contract documents across trades.

  • Familiarity with NEC and local electrical codes.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, drafting, or related field.

  • Experience with Trimble Total Station or similar layout tools.


Work Environment

  • Combination of office-based BIM modeling and occasional construction site visits.

  • Extended computer use with BIM software.

  • Ability to navigate active construction sites as needed.
