Recruiter
The Recruiter is responsible for sourcing, attracting, screening, and hiring qualified professionals for heavy industrial, engineering, manufacturing, construction, energy, and infrastructure positions. This role partners closely with hiring managers and operational leaders to understand workforce requirements and build talent pipelines for technical and hard-to-fill positions.
The ideal candidate understands technical recruiting and is comfortable recruiting for engineering, skilled technical, project, maintenance, operations, and field-based positions within industrial environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle recruiting for engineering, industrial, manufacturing, construction, and technical positions.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand job requirements, technical qualifications, project needs, and staffing priorities.
- Develop effective sourcing strategies for difficult-to-fill technical and skilled positions.
- Identify and engage candidates through LinkedIn, job boards, professional associations, employee referrals, networking, and direct sourcing.
- Recruit for positions such as:
- Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, and Process Engineers
- Project Engineers and Project Managers
- Design Engineers and Engineering Technicians
- Estimators and Planners
- Maintenance and Reliability professionals
- Operations and Production leadership
- Field Service and Commissioning personnel
- Construction and Site Management professionals
- Safety, Quality, and Environmental professionals
- Conduct initial candidate screenings and assess technical experience, qualifications, career goals, compensation expectations, and availability.
- Coordinate interviews, assessments, background checks, drug testing, and other pre-employment requirements as applicable.
- Maintain accurate candidate and recruiting activity records in the applicant tracking system.
- Build and maintain talent pipelines for recurring and anticipated hiring needs.
- Develop relationships with passive candidates and industry professionals.
- Represent the company professionally at career fairs, industry events, technical schools, colleges, and professional organizations.
- Assist with workforce planning and recruiting strategies for new projects, expansions, shutdowns, turnarounds, and other industrial staffing initiatives.
- Monitor recruiting metrics, including time-to-fill, source effectiveness, candidate pipeline activity, and offer acceptance rates.
- Ensure recruiting practices comply with applicable employment laws and company policies.
- Provide regular updates to hiring managers regarding candidate activity and market conditions.
- Support employer-branding and recruiting initiatives designed to attract highly qualified technical talent.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent recruiting experience may be considered.
- [2–5]+ years of recruiting experience, preferably within heavy industrial, engineering, manufacturing, construction, energy, infrastructure, or related industries.
- Demonstrated experience recruiting technical or hard-to-fill positions.
- Strong understanding of engineering and industrial job functions and technical terminology.
- Experience with applicant tracking systems and recruiting platforms.
- Strong sourcing, interviewing, negotiation, and candidate-engagement skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple requisitions and priorities.
- Ability to work effectively with engineers, project managers, operations leaders, field personnel, and senior management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience recruiting for EPC, manufacturing, oil & gas, power generation, industrial construction, fabrication, mining, or infrastructure organizations.
- Experience recruiting for both professional and skilled-trade positions.
- Familiarity with engineering disciplines, industrial equipment, manufacturing processes, construction projects, or field operations.
- Experience supporting high-volume hiring or project-based workforce mobilization.
- Existing network of engineering, industrial, construction, or skilled-trades professionals.
