Job Overview

We are seeking a Billing & Collections Specialist to support billing operations, reimbursement activities, and accounts receivable management for a healthcare organization. This role will work closely with patients, insurance carriers, and internal departments to resolve billing issues, reduce outstanding balances, and ensure timely payment collection.

Responsibilities

• Submit and review claims for commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid
• Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and patient billing information
• Monitor aging reports and follow up on unpaid, underpaid, and denied claims
• Research billing discrepancies and submit corrected claims and appeals
• Contact patients regarding outstanding balances and payment arrangements
• Post and reconcile payments, adjustments, and credits
• Review EOBs and remittance advice to ensure accurate reimbursement
• Work with coding, patient access, and clinical teams to resolve claim issues
• Maintain accurate account documentation and collection activity notes
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and payer guidelines

Qualifications

• 3+ years of healthcare billing, collections, or accounts receivable experience
• Healthcare industry experience required
• Experience working with commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid claims
• Knowledge of denials management, appeals, and reimbursement processes
• Familiarity with medical terminology
• Experience using EHR systems and healthcare billing software
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• High school diploma or equivalent required
