Accounting Manager / Senior Accountant

Location: The Woodlands, TX

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Pay: $55–$80/hr, depending on experience

A rapidly growing organization in The Woodlands is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager or highly experienced Senior Accountant to help build and scale its accounting function.

This is a unique opportunity to join an organization during an early stage of significant growth. The position will work closely with senior financial leadership and take broad ownership of the accounting process, including monthly close, financial reporting, reconciliations, process improvement, and an upcoming ERP implementation.

This is not a traditional people-management role at this stage. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating as a hands-on individual contributor while taking Accounting Manager-level ownership.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support the monthly accounting close from start through financial statements

• Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations

• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules

• Review financial results with accounting leadership

• Maintain accurate general ledger activity across multiple entities

• Support corporate and shared-services accounting activities

• Identify and implement accounting process improvements

• Help develop scalable accounting procedures and internal controls

• Assist with transactional accounting activities when needed, including invoicing and reconciliations

• Support implementation of a new ERP/accounting system

• Assist with accounting-system conversion, data cleanup, testing, and process design

• Work closely with executive and financial leadership as the organization continues to grow

Qualifications

• Strong Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager-level experience

• Significant hands-on month-end close experience

• Experience preparing financial statements

• Strong general ledger and balance-sheet reconciliation knowledge

• Ability to independently manage accounting responsibilities with limited supervision

• Comfortable working in a lean, growing accounting environment

• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Willingness to handle both higher-level accounting and day-to-day transactional responsibilities

• Ability to work onsite in The Woodlands

Preferred Experience

• CPA or CPA-track background

• Multi-entity accounting

• ERP implementation or accounting-system conversion experience

• QuickBooks, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, or Sage Intacct

• Construction, infrastructure, energy, project accounting, or other asset-heavy environments

• Fixed asset accounting

• Experience building or improving accounting processes in a growing organization
