Financial Analyst / Accountant

Location: Milwaukee, WI
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday-Friday | 9:00am-5:00 pm 
Hybrid: 2 days onsite and 3 days remote
Compensation: Up to $45/hour
Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance available after 90 days

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Financial Analyst / Accountant to join their growing finance team. This is an excellent contract-to-hire opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and partnering with operational leaders. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, excellent Excel skills, and experience applying GAAP principles in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Prepare funding source billings and periodic financial reports.
• Analyze financial results, budgets, and variances.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and accounts receivable activity.
• Monitor grants and funding sources while preparing financial projections.
• Partner with program managers and leadership to review financial performance and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting or financial analysis experience.
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience with month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, billing, and variance analysis.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
