Staff Accountant

Location: Midland, TX
Compensation: $65,000 – $80,000 + bonus potential
Reports to: Controller

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Staff Accountant to serve as the right hand to the Controller. This role is ideal for someone who wants to grow with a company, take ownership of core accounting functions, and help build scalable processes.

You will play a key role in day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, and financial reporting, while also supporting process improvements as the company continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Controller with month-end and year-end close
• Prepare and post journal entries and account reconciliations
• Maintain and analyze general ledger activity
• Support AP/AR oversight, including troubleshooting discrepancies
• Prepare financial reports and assist with internal reporting packages
• Assist with inventory accounting (critical in a supply/distribution business)
• Support cash management, bank reconciliations, and accruals
• Help improve and document accounting processes and controls
• Assist with audit support and tax preparation
• Partner with operations and leadership to support a growing, multi-location business

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2–5+ years of accounting experience (industry or public)
• Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close
• Experience with inventory or distribution businesses is a plus
• Proficiency in Excel; ERP experience preferred
• Detail-oriented with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment
