Job Title: Legal Billing Clerk
Type: Perm 
Pay Rate: $70-80K, based on experience
Start Date: ASAP

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-6:00 PM (flexible hours available)
Work Arrangement: Primarily in-office with the option to work remotely one day per week

About the Role

Our law firm is seeking an experienced Billing Clerk to coordinate the full client billing lifecycle and support attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff with accurate and timely billing operations. The ideal candidate will have prior legal billing experience, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate a proactive, service-oriented approach to their work.

Depending on experience and depth of knowledge, this position may be hired at the Senior Billing Clerk level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full-cycle client billing process for assigned attorneys.
  • Compile attorney and paralegal time entries and expenses according to client billing requirements.
  • Review and edit proformas, pre-bills, and billing narratives based on attorney requests.
  • Process write-downs, write-offs, transfers, and split billing arrangements.
  • Apply trust and advance funds accurately to client invoices.
  • Prepare, review, and upload matter budgets within e-billing platforms.
  • Submit invoices through electronic billing systems and traditional billing methods.
  • Research and resolve billing-related questions and discrepancies.
  • Communicate with attorneys, staff, clients, and third-party billing vendors regarding billing matters.
  • Ensure compliance with client billing guidelines, fee arrangements, and firm procedures.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 2 years of legal billing experience.
  • Experience with LEDES billing formats.
  • Experience with electronic billing submissions, budgeting, and appeals.
  • Strong data entry accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong computer and information management skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with 3E billing software.
  • Familiarity with e-billing systems including:
    • Bottomline/LegalX
    • Collaborati
    • Wolters Kluwer Passport
    • Legal Tracker
    • CounselLink
    • TyMetrix360
  • Experience with Ebilling Hub.
  • Familiarity with document management systems such as iManage.
