Location: Fully Remote
Compensation: $60.00 – $75.00 per Hour
Contract Length: Through January 2027
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Rare weekend support for remote go-live activities)

They are seeking a Senior Workday HCM Payroll Consultant to provide functional expertise and consultative support during this multi-year transformation. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Workday professional who enjoys partnering with cross-functional teams, optimizing business processes, and supporting successful Workday HCM implementations.

Position Summary

The Senior Workday HCM Payroll Consultant will serve as a functional subject matter expert supporting Workday HCM Payroll initiatives. This role will partner with Human Resources, Payroll, IT, and operational stakeholders to provide expert guidance on Workday functionality, business processes, configuration recommendations, testing, and implementation activities.

This is a highly consultative role requiring strong functional knowledge of Workday HCM and Payroll. This position is not focused on integrations, report writing, or project management. Instead, the ideal candidate will bring deep functional expertise, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to advise business partners throughout the implementation lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide functional consulting expertise for Workday HCM and Payroll initiatives.

• Partner with Payroll, HR, IT, and operational leaders to support Workday implementation activities.

• Analyze current business processes and recommend best-practice Workday solutions.

• Assist with system configuration validation, functional testing, and user acceptance testing.

• Support payroll-related workflows, business processes, and system optimization efforts.

• Troubleshoot functional issues and recommend effective solutions.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation and adoption.

• Participate in system enhancements, process improvements, and go-live readiness activities.

• Provide functional guidance and knowledge transfer to internal stakeholders.

• Support occasional remote go-live activities as needed.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's Degree required.

• 3–5+ years of Workday HCM experience.

• Senior-level functional consulting experience with Workday HCM.

• Experience supporting Workday HCM implementations.

• Strong understanding of Workday Payroll business processes and functionality.

• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Self-starter with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

• Comfortable serving in a consultative, business-facing role.

• Strong technical understanding of Workday HCM while maintaining a functional focus.

Preferred

• Healthcare industry experience.

• Experience supporting enterprise HCM transformations.

• Background in Payroll or Human Resources operations.

• Experience participating in Workday testing, validation, and go-live support.

• Familiarity with change management and business process optimization.

This role is not responsible for:

• Workday integrations

• Report writing or report development

• Leading implementation projects

Candidates whose primary background is focused on integrations or reporting, rather than functional Workday consulting, may not be the best fit.
