Senior Accounting Manager

Connect Search Partners is partnering with a leading commercial real estate organization to identify a Senior Accounting Manager to join their growing team. This individual will have full responsibility for the accounting and financial reporting of assigned projects and entities while leading and developing a team of accounting professionals.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting leader with a strong background in commercial real estate and public accounting to contribute strategically within a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting Oversight

  • Oversee all accounting records and financial reporting activities for assigned projects and entities.
  • Ensure accounting records are maintained accurately, timely, and in accordance with GAAP and applicable reporting requirements.
  • Review general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and financial analyses to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and review accounting position memos related to complex or non-routine transactions.
  • Review and validate monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages.
  • Provide accounting guidance on transactions including acquisitions, dispositions, debt modifications, and interest capitalization.

Treasury & Cash Management

  • Review bank reconciliations and monitor cash management activities.
  • Review investor and lender funding requests.
  • Analyze contribution and distribution calculations.
  • Maintain awareness of cash flow projections and financial performance trends.

Compliance, Controls & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with loan agreements, joint venture agreements, property management agreements, leases, and other governing documents.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls through documented policies and procedures.
  • Identify financial and operational risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Support financial statement audits, internal audits, and tax compliance processes.
  • Review tax projections and tax preparation support schedules.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
  • Provide guidance on complex accounting and operational matters.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and compensation recommendations for direct reports.
  • Foster strong working relationships across internal departments and external stakeholders.
  • Lead training initiatives and support professional development within the accounting team.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with finance, operations, lease administration, transactions, and other business units to support project objectives.
  • Assist department leadership with strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
  • Review and present ad hoc reporting for executive leadership and external partners as needed.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • CPA designation required.
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a combination of public accounting and industry experience preferred.
  • Commercial real estate accounting experience required.
  • Prior leadership or direct management experience required.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.

Preferred Background

  • Public accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with complex ownership structures, joint ventures, and financing arrangements.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
