Position Overview

We are seeking experienced accounting and finance professionals for two immediate consulting needs within a fast-paced manufacturing organization. These positions will support a busy finance and accounting team with critical projects, day-to-day accounting activities, analysis, and an existing backlog of work.

We are open to candidates from several different backgrounds. One need is primarily focused on corporate accounting and month-end close, while the second is more heavily focused on manufacturing operations, cost accounting, inventory, supply chain, and financial analysis.

Candidates do not need to have experience in every area listed below. We are interested in Senior Accountants, Senior Financial Analysts, and hands-on Accounting Managers or Controllers who can quickly assess priorities, work independently, and provide immediate support.

Areas of Focus

Depending on experience, responsibilities may include:

Corporate Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
  • Prepare and post journal entries and accruals
  • Perform balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliations
  • Assist with financial statement preparation and analysis
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and reconciling items
  • Analyze P&L and balance sheet activity
  • Support audit requests and maintain appropriate accounting documentation
  • Apply GAAP principles to day-to-day accounting activities

Manufacturing, Cost & Operations Finance

  • Support cost accounting activities within a manufacturing environment
  • Analyze standard costs, actual costs, and manufacturing variances
  • Research cost and operational variances and communicate key findings
  • Support inventory accounting and related reconciliations
  • Review manufacturing and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Partner with plant, operations, supply chain, and finance leadership
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and operational reporting
  • Support financial analysis related to manufacturing and cost-saving initiatives

Freight & Supply Chain Analysis

  • Analyze freight, shipping, and transportation costs
  • Review actual freight costs against expectations, standards, or forecasts
  • Identify and research freight and shipping variances
  • Partner with supply chain and operations teams to understand cost drivers
  • Assist with reporting and analysis designed to improve visibility into operational spending

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Corporate accounting, manufacturing accounting, cost accounting, or operations finance
  • Month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
  • Standard costing, inventory accounting, or manufacturing variance analysis
  • Financial statement preparation and financial analysis
  • Freight, transportation, shipping, or supply chain cost analysis
  • Strong ERP experience; experience working within legacy, mainframe, or green-screen systems is beneficial
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookups, SUMIF/SUMIFS, and data analysis
  • Ability to independently research issues and work through complex accounting or financial data
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred for the operations-focused opening but is not required for candidates whose backgrounds align more closely with the corporate accounting need.

What We're Looking For

Above all, we are looking for hands-on, autonomous accounting and finance professionals. The team is currently managing a significant workload, so successful consultants will be comfortable stepping into an established environment, learning processes quickly, identifying priorities, and taking ownership of their responsibilities with limited day-to-day direction.

Candidates with Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or Controller-level experience are encouraged to apply if they remain comfortable performing hands-on accounting and analysis.

Additional Details

  • Hybrid schedule with Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday onsite in Hartford
  • Business casual environment with onsite parking
  • Initial project expected to last approximately 90–120 days
  • Potential opportunity for contract-to-hire
  • Permanent compensation, if converted, is expected to be approximately $90,000–$105,000 plus a 5% bonus
  • Interview process will primarily focus on technical accounting, analytical experience, and the ability to operate independently

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting or finance professional who enjoys stepping into a fast-moving environment, solving problems, and making an immediate impact.
